PCdoB’s Statement: It is urgent to stop the genocide against the Palestinian people
The Communist Party of Brazil (PCdoB) expresses its most vehement protest at the repressive escalation of Israel against the peaceful demonstrations of the Palestinian people.
In 45 days Israeli forces have already caused more than 100 fatalities and thousands of injuries among unarmed demonstrators, including children, the elderly and the physically disabled. The vast majority of those who were murdered are young people between the ages of 16 and 20, a real crime against humanity.
This Tuesday, May 15, marks the 70th anniversary of what the Palestinian people call Al’Nakba (The Catastrophe), which marks the founding of the Israeli state in 1948.
During these 70 years, reiterated UN resolutions have been unanswered by Israel, and always protected by the US, for whom Israel functions as a sort of advanced military post, backed by billions of dollars in armaments.
The inauguration of the US Embassy in Jerusalem on Monday (14), just a day before the Nakba, beyond a cynical transgression of imperialism to international law, repudiated by the vast majority of countries and by the UN General Assembly, was a clear provocation to the Palestinian people.
The PCdoB, at its 14th Congress, held in November 2017, approved by acclamation a motion in solidarity with the Palestinian people.
We demand the withdrawal of all Israeli settlements from the Occupied Palestinian Territories and the fall of the Wall of Separation.
Humanity is anxious for justice and demands an immediate end to genocide against the Palestinian people. We reaffirm once again that peace in the Middle East passes through the respect for United Nations resolutions and for the constitution of the Palestinian State with East Jerusalem as its capital, and with the borders existing on June 4, 1967.
