Resistência

In a speech, last Wednesday (30), at the Presidential Palace, during the launch of the third phase of the Minha Casa Minha Vida[1] program, President Dilma Rousseff has defended that, despite be provided for in the Constitution, the impeachment must be grounded for responsibility crimes. That is not the case of the lawsuit filed against the government in the House of Representatives on the initiative of the right-wing forces.

“To say that impeachment is correct it is absolutely in bad faith. It requires a crime of responsibility “she emphasized.” What is an impeachment without a liability crime? It is a coup d’état!  Don´t worth pretending that we are discussing, in theory, an impeachment. We are discussing a very concrete impeachment: without a responsibility crime. ”

The president stressed that the process of impeachment by the revocation of its mandate legitimate and democratically won in the 2014 elections, is incompatible with the democratic history of the country after the re-democratization

“One of the inalienable rights of the Brazilian people is democracy. Democracy is a right that we have conquered. Democracy in Brazil did not fall from the sky. We conquered the democracy in Brazil with a lot of effort, with great participation of all of us Brazilians who, over the years, are resisting. ”

Dilma also recalled that the fact not like a government is no an argument to remove a government in presidential regime, as the Brazilian is. The president remembered that there has not a parliamentary system in the Constitution of Brazil.

We are living in a presidential regime. Do not have the option that if you do not like the government, the government falls, “s criticized.” This only exists in Parliamentary system. It is not me that trying to hit. I regret that it has created this climate of hate and resentment in Brazil. Impeachment without liability crime is a blow.

“The president deeply regrets the climate of hatred and intolerance that spread throughout the country due the political polarization.” I think this is a very serious point, because the intolerance is the base of violence. To believe that the other has no right or does not deserve to be treated with respect is the basis of violence. We cannot allow and accept this in our country. ”
